Today at lunch I had the chicken cesar wrap from Jimmy John’s and just about half way through someone asked me if I should be eating that cold cut chicken since I’m pregnant. This immediately made me loose my appetite…after looking online it seems like they use pre cooked rotisserie chicken. Is that still consider a cold cut? I’m freaking out!

Honestly this is a decision you'll have to make for yourself. I have eaten JJ's probably 5-6x during this pregnancy because it's what I could stomach at the moment. You're more likely to get listeria from bagged salads and fruit at the grocery store than you are from a *reputable* sandwich place. I wouldn't necessarily recommend buying a sandwich from the local corner store that hasn't washed it's meat slicer for 4 years, but if it's somewhere you're familiar with, you're likely fine.
I also know some mama's will absolutely not take the risk and that's also okay and 10000% their prerogative.
Do your research (although it's a little dated) and make the decision that's best for you!

@kamikazii12,
I'm with you on this. I don't worry about it, but I also don't try a new place lol. No big deal

my OB said that to eat what you can when you can. if you're going to eat a cold cut sandwich she said she'd recommend Jimmy John's as a safer option. if you get deli meat from the store just make sure you heat it up in the microwave

So - I have ended up in the listeriosis is *super* rare, I need to eat, and by the way the most recent recalls have been in foods they don't tell you not to eat camp!
It just feels like there are so many other things to worry about, and too much stress is bad.
That aside, I think technically it could be in any cold, pre-prepared food. (And apparently, from the recalls, Ice cream from the grocery store and plant milks fresh from the carton!!!)
I tend to avoid anything that looks or smells suspect, or that has been in the fridge for more than 3 days.

With my first kid..I had Jimmy John’s 3 times a week, and my OB was 100% okay with it. Don’t let pregnancy stop you!

I don’t think that’s considered a cold cut since it’s been cooked. But I could be wrong.

I just had Jimmy John’s today! I was getting so hungry almost sick, I needed food asap!
I used to work there a long time ago, and we washed our slicers often and slices meat that same day. Any meat not used would go to the very cold walk in fridge and used first thing the next day. Cleanliness was taken very seriously.
I know could vary store to store, but I’ve had so many subs from there over the last decade and never had issues. I think there are more issues from some grocery store produce from recalls I’ve seen over the years.

My dr said it’s totally fine! She said the chance of getting it is so low as long as I stick to reputable places. She did say that jimmy johns smokes there’s meats anyway so no worry there. She did mention that since they smoke it to limit it to once a week from something with the smokers… don’t remember.
