My paternal grandmother passed away back in January of 2020 at the age of 90.She was my last living grandparent and we were pretty close as I was her first grandchild, and only grandson. As a family, we’d often talk about her usual “grandma-isms” including my personal favorite, “It is what it is.”Fast-forward to yesterday…I have this motivational quotes app that’ll send me different things throughout the day. In the morning I received a new quote that read, “It is what it is.”This immediately hit me right in the feels.I won’t go into details here, but I’ve kinda been going through it lately, on a personal level.I’m not a deeply religious person, but seeing that quote that made me think of her at that exact time brought a lot of comfort to me… almost like she’s hanging around me.It brought me joy, and I hope everyone that happens to read this finds joy today (or soon) in something so small, like a random push notification on their phone.

I believe it's how they remind us they're still with us in some way. I find it comforting and the reminders usually happen at a time when I need it most.

What's the number one trait for a salesperson to have? For my money... enthusiasm.A salesperson has to have a genuine interest in what they're selling. In college, I worked at Circuit City (yes, I'm that old). I sold home theater equipment.I'd say that 90% of my biggest sales happened because I had a genuine interest in the technology I was selling. I seriously did not care if someone bought from me or from someone else. My goal was to share what I thought was cool with whomever would be willing to chat with me.A lot of sales started out like...Shopper: "I'm thinking about... "Me: "That's great... wanna see something cool?"I'd then show them something that I thought was great tech that would solve whatever issue they were thinking about addressing.I didn't even know it at the time, but I was pretty good at retail home theater sales.P.S. There are products worth buying extended warranties for. TVs are NOT one of them.#humblebrag #sales #marketing #strategy

Been in the lab the last few days. The email lab that is!We have a bi-weekly newsletter at Mirantis named "Cloud Native & Coffee."I personally built the original template we've been using since the beginning of the year, and to be completely honest, I already think it needs a refresh.I based the original template loosely off a newsletter I helped build at a previous job... which was great to get us off the ground, but now... it's time to make this newsletter its own thing.I've gone through about three different variations of templates over the past 48 hours, and I think we've landed on something that's pretty cool. It's vivid. It's too the point. But most of all, it's responsive!Okay, that last one is more table stakes now, but unless you work in email marketing, you don't really know how important it is.I'll share the final product here once it's launched in the next week or so.In the meantime, help an email marketer out and go subscribe. Or share this link with anyone you know who might enjoy news and content from the cloud native landscape. Many thanks!Subscribe here: https://lnkd.in/gADnFJ_x#emailmarketing #newsletters #emaildesign #digitalmarketing #strategy

What time do you usually wake up?I saw this question on X and decided to steal it.Me?I usually wake up when Stella, my middle child deems it necessary to go outside to pee.If you haven’t guessed by now, Stella is a dog.She likes to wake me up by doing her little pittie whine mostly between 3 and 5 AM.I feed her and her siblings. Then, if it’s not a gym day, I grab some sort of protein and a coffee and usually open my laptop.I’m not complaining though…Working at 3 AM allows me to converse during working hours with my colleagues in Europe.Plus I can usually get most of my daily tasks done by 7 AM, allowing the rest of the day to be for meetings or anything else that comes up.So… what about you? Are you an early riser like me or do you prefer to stay up late?P.S. That’s Stella BTW.

I'm seeing A LOT of posts and articles about how people should return to working in an office. It's as if the recent employment downturn has given companies the idea they can reassert control over their employees. If you personally work better in an office, then more power to you.It just ain't for me anymore.#wfh #rto #workfromhome #returntooffice #thegreatdebate

It seems like all Elon Musk does these days are knee-jerk reactions. That being said... both things can be true. Marketing could have failed AND Musk's behavior may be causing damage to the Tesla brand. It's within his power to fire an entire team... it's just unfortunate.I feel for the marketers who have lost their jobs, especially when there are forces beyond their control.
