The movie is still being screened here in Thailand in SF Cinema branches in Thai with English subtitles, but it’s also sweeping across the other countries of Southeast Asia. It earned THB 250 million in the first 14 days of its release here but is also the No. 1 movie in Singapore and earned more than SGD 330,000, the biggest opening weekend in Singapore for a Thai movie according to CNA. Audience reviews on the internet are also praising the movie: currently, it sits at 8.5/10 on IMDB and a 4.9/5 on Google reviews. Even on the popular move review website Letterboxd, it has a 4.0/5 rating.
Playing the role of M is Billkin, a Thai actor and singer who’s been making waves in the local entertainment industry with roles inMy Ambulance andI Promised You the Moon. He’s also released a number of singles and even sang a song on the soundtrack of this movie titled “สวยงามเสมอ” or “Ever-Forever”. Director Pat Boonnitipat is also no stranger to the Thai entertainment industry having worked on the TV adaptation ofBad Genius, yet another film that became a sensation beyond Thai borders when it was released back in 2017. But perhaps the most notable talent in the film is Usha Seamkhum, who plays Amah or the titular grandma. This is her first ever film role, and she’s since gathered a legion of fans both Thai and foreign alike.
