The Global SOX Program Management team assists Costco Management in fulfilling its Sarbanes-Oxley(SOX) Act requirements by continuously monitoring, consulting, and assessing the internal control structure established and maintained byManagement. The team reports up to the Internal Audit Department which provides independent, objective assurance andconsulting services using a systematic and disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of control, riskmanagement and compliance processes. Internal Audit is responsible for conducting audits of all Costco’s domestic andinternational activities, its subsidiaries, and other entities Costco conducts business with.

This position is a part of the team that oversees the Company’s SOX program globally through all phases of planning and scoping, readiness assessment, design and operating effectiveness evaluations, gap analysis, and deficiency evaluations.

The role will entail consulting management in the optimization of their controls and procedures as well as aiding Internal Audit in their planning, testing, and reporting over the effectiveness of SOX controls. Additionally, the role involves assessing additions of or changes to SOX-relevant business processes, including system implementations, updated codification impacts, personnel changes, and more. Job Duties/Essential Functions

• Assists in the development of the annual SOX scope, including involvement in updates throughout the year for control environment changes.
• Gains an understanding of the Company’s business processes and the supporting technologies by performing end-to-end process walkthroughs, ensuring that narratives and flowcharts reflect the current process. Works with process owners to update them for needed changes.
• Collaboratively works with process owners to identify the most efficient and effective suite of key controls and ensures that the requisite key reports are identified and documented.
• Proactively participates in the evaluation of upcoming changes in the control environment, such as new systems, supporting applications and tools. Collaboratively provides process and control guidance and ensures that the requisite controls are properly designed and implemented.
• Assist in the assessment of control deficiencies, including the downstream impact and identification of mitigating controls.
• Works with the Global SOX Program Management team to consult with process owners regarding internal control remediation activities.
• Drafts technical memos, including scoping documents, executive reporting materials and other written communication.
• Contributes to the continuous development of the SOX Program Management processes and strategy execution.
• Works with the Global SOX Program Management team to provide ongoing training, guidance, and daily support to audit staff and business stakeholders.
• Helps manage the maintenance and recurring compliance activities in the SOX compliance platform. Performs special projects for the Audit Committee and Management.
• This is a full-time position (40+ hours per week).

Experience, Skills, Education & Licenses/Certifications

Required:

• Bachelors or Master’s degree with an emphasis in accounting or finance from an AACSB-accredited university with goal of obtaining CPA or CIA designation.
• Minimum three years’ audit experience, preferably in public accounting auditing public companies with SOX reportingrequirements.
• Demonstrated understanding of U.S. GAAP, the COSO Internal Control framework, SOX, and PCAOB auditingstandards.
• Ability to work well under pressure, including juggling multiple competing priorities, striving for excellence while maintaining a positive attitude.
• Self-starter with the ability to plan, organize and establish priorities to meet goals and achieve results with a proven historyof consistently meeting deadlines.
• Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal and diplomatic skills with ability to interact in a professional manner with all levels of management.
• Uncompromising professional and personal integrity.
• Solid analytical skills, with ability to make methodical and objective evaluations of detailed data, processes and controls,identifying inconsistencies or anomalies requiring investigation.
• Strong technical PC skills and an aptitude for learning new systems.
• Availability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally, potentially on short notice, up to six weeks per year.
• Responsive to business requirements, with a strong sense of urgency and flexibility to work longer hours when business needs arise.

Senior 1 SOX Compliance Pay Range: $100,000 – $125,000 and one-time Restricted Stock Unit (RSU) eligible.
